I can understand that people with less tech experience will be scared to do this DNS public server change, but it's GOOGLE's and it's PUBLIC. FFXIV used to be a PC only game, so older gamers are very used to these tech hic-ups between nations. Welcome to the real gamers world. And once you're inside FFXIV, don't buy Gil.

Can I change it back?
Yes some people just change it back once the download is complete, some just leave it on the open public Google DNS Server to play FFXIV. If I were you I'd leave it.
Why did the original connection not go through?
